NCS participant; Catherine Fitzgerald tells us about her NCS experience at Cornwall Plus.
“…When they said “make friends for life” I didn’t really believe it, but I can say I’m still in contact with all my NCS group over half a year later. NCS pushed me beyond my comfort zone and allowed me to conquer fears. It stretched me both in speaking to new people and challenged me with the activities put in place and the ‘just say yes’ attitude that drives you forward to achieve great things. NCS was one of the highlights of my summer and something I’ll treasure forever as it had such an impact on me with the social action project we did, the group activities we completed and the friends I made, I couldn’t recommend it enough!…”
Now an excelling drama student at Truro College, Catherine and her NCS group stayed at Cornwall Plus accommodation in the sunny summer of 2015. From swinging from the high ropes at Siblyback Lake to beach cleans at Flushing and campaigning alongside pro surfers for Surfers Against Sewage at Newquay’s Fistral beach; it’s not hard to see how friendships are forged and confidence grows.
