We have some wonderful theatres and production companies here in Cornwall. From open air theatres with cliff top views to city centre venues attracting famous national shows, there’s something for every taste and every age.
Minack Theatre
You just have to see it to believe it. The Minack Theatre is truly one of Cornwall’s most spectacular locations. Perched high on the cliffs above Porthcurno beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Minack Theatre’s summer programme is wonderful every year with drama, musicals, comedy, and story-telling.
The Minack Theatre was created by Rowena Cade, who lived at the top of the Mincak cliff. Over the winter of 1931 and 1932, Rowena and her gardener, Billy Rawlings created the stage and the lower terraces of the theatre for local drama enthusiasts to perform Shakespeare’s The Tempest. The first performance was in 1932. Today, the theatre welcomes over 80,000 visitors a year to it’s spectacular performances.

Rogue Theatre

From late-night cabaret shows, festival projects, music events, young people’s performance events/projects, and good old traditional theatre, there’s nothing Rogue won’t try and succeed at.
It’s often not theatre as you know it; for example, follow a path through the trees of Tehidy Woods past the rugged North Cliffs of Cornwall and deep in to the woods to be immersed in one of their outdoor spectacles or feast your eyes on one of their cabaret shows at a local character-filled theatre.
