Couple’s escapes in Cornwall

Looking forward to a romantic break away in Cornwall with your loved one? Here we share some of our top things to see and do across the county.

Tantalise your taste buds

Home to a vast array of award-winning restaurants and fantastic eateries, dining out during your stay in Cornwall is a must. Whether you fancy tucking into a classic Cornish cream tea, Cornish pasty, hearty dish made from delicious local produce or would like to try a delectable taster menu at a Michelin starred restaurant, Cornwall won’t disappoint.

Enjoy a day at the beach

Pack up a picnic, grab your swimming gear and head for the water! For those looking to find some surf, the north coast offers a great choice of beaches that provide the swell you need, whilst those on the south coast – which include the beaches here in Falmouth – provide the perfect place to enjoy a wide variety of other water sports including paddle boarding, jet skiing, canoeing and more. Not in the mood to hit the water? You can’t beat finding a quiet spot on the sand and simply sitting back and relaxing.

See a show at the Minack Theatre

Carved into the granite cliffs of Porthcurno Bay, the Minack is, perhaps, one of the most famous theatres in the UK – and it’s not hard to see why. Take a stroll around the theatre’s sub-tropical gardens before taking your seat for your chosen performance. With the waves crashing against the cliffs below, we can’t think of a more dramatic location to enjoy a night at the theatre.

Take a walk along the South West Coast Path

Spectacular views, historical landmarks, and an abundance of wildlife – if a stretch of the legs is on the cards, you can’t go wrong with a section of this stunning 630-mile route. If you’re starting in Falmouth, you could opt for a walk between the harbour and Portloe. It’s a fairly challenging route but one that affords magnificent views back across Falmouth and the Carrick Roads.

Explore some of the county’s quintessential towns and villages

Make your way along the cobbled streets of a quaint fishing village, explore the shops, museum and cathedral in the city of Truro or the art galleries in the many picturesque towns around the county – including those in nearby Penryn and Falmouth. Wherever you choose to explore, you’ll find plenty to discover around each corner.

Enjoy a romantic evening stargazing

The magic of Cornwall doesn’t disappear as the sun goes down. With spectacular sunsets to admire and some great star gazing spots to enjoy, a romantic evening spent outdoors shouldn’t be missed. St Agnes Head and Bedruthan Steps have both been awarded Dark Sky Discovery Status, making them the ideal locations to enjoy a picnic dinner under the stars.
