Foraging Tours in Cornwall

A unique way to explore our county

Have you considered Foraging Tours in Cornwall as an alternative way to explore our county?

We all know why people love to visit Cornwall. It’s the idyllic beaches, stunning vistas, and the great outdoors. It’s the charming towns and villages, friendly locals, and the cream teas – always jam first. You’ll visit us with plans carefully made, a to-do list of places to go and people to see, ready to pack as much as possible into whatever time you have available.

After a few days working through the attractions on your list and when you’re settled into our affordable student rooms for the night, you might want to have someone else lead an excursion, give yourself a break from being organiser in chief.

There are several options that will combine two of the region’s more notable offerings, fresh local cuisine, and the county’s spectacular landscapes. The unique local environment means there are a host of groups offering foraging tours designed to offer countryside walks and an opportunity to eat what you find, all set against a sunset backdrop and a roaring fire.

Foraging Tours and Walks in Cornwall

Wild Walks South West has featured in the national media on multiple occasions and gives you the chance to talk a leisurely stroll through parts of Cornwall learning about the legalities of foraging as well as identifying edibles along the way. You’ll also sample food made from wild ingredients as part of the guided tour. For those who don’t want to travel too far from base, in July they are offering tours that run in Falmouth and Mawnan. Both are close to campus and further proof that staying with us is the most inexpensive way to experience the best of Cornwall on a budget.

Based in Penzance, Fat Hen will also take you on a walking tour and give guidance on the area’s edible flora and fauna. In addition, they run bespoke cookery courses to take what you’ve learned and turn it into a delicious range of meals ensuring nothing goes to waste.

Philleigh Way is a more traditional cookery school operating outside of Truro and their offers include standard cookery courses in addition to more alternative areas such as foraging and floristry. Ideal for all and with a wide range of options, there’s sure to be something for all tastes.

If you do want a more coastal focus to your foraging, check out Cornish Wild Food. Taking in the sights across some of Cornwall’s beaches, you can then enjoy the fruits of your labour right on the sand. If that’s not enough, how about crafting your own drink in their wild gin workshops?

Hungry for more?

At the end of a hard day’s foraging, if you still find yourself hungry for more, then you can visit our licenced onsite café for further locally sourced refreshments. Once full, head back to your room for a good night’s sleep, ready to start again the next day.
